"We had a long day. It was a long race. It changed a lot throughout every run, but all the guys worked really hard to try to improve our CSX 'Play It Safe' Ford and get better as we go. I learned a lot along the way and I’ve got plenty to learn from for next time. It’s not the finish we wanted, but we keep getting better."

“We took a really hard hit at Daytona and obviously didn’t end the day the way we wanted to. The good news is I love Atlanta. I like the racetracks that have a little more character and the worn-out asphalt. It was really good to us last year on the XFINITY side. So, when we get back there, I’m thinking it should be a really good weekend for us. It’s going to be interesting with the low downforce package to see how much we really slide around. I don’t know what the tire package is going to look like, so that could throw a little bit of a wrench into the equation. We’ll wait and see.

“I’m excited for the race, though. I like that style of racing. It makes me hope that it will be somewhat similar to my first Cup race in Fontana where we were sliding around 20 or 40 laps into a run, just trying to hang on. If we get something like that in Atlanta, I think it will be a blast.

“We will have CSX on our No. 34 Ford Fusion at Atlanta. They are a long-time partner of Front Row Motorsports. I got to work with them a little bit last year when I ran some Cup races with Front Row, and they’ve got a big safety campaign that we’re trying to get across to all the race fans. ‘Play it safe’ around railroad tracks at all times. Always brake for trains, don’t try to beat the train at the crossing, don’t wear earbuds walking near railroad tracks. It’s something that the younger crowd might not think about enough, and we’re working together to get that message across.”

Daytona 500 Post Race

No. 34 Love's Travel Stops Ford

Started: 17th
Finished: 39th

“I really saw nothing before the wreck. Matt (DiBenedetto) was in the care center with me and he apologized, and I appreciate that. I just hate it for Love’s Travel Stops coming on board for our first Daytona 500 together, and to leave it like this is not ideal by any means. We had a fast race car. I was having a blast out there. The handling was tough. We were fighting loose-in, loose-off, got tight on that last run, but it was a blast. I was having so much fun I hate that we’re standing here right now unable to finish the race."

"We'll definitely look for a little more patience to be exercised in the 500 than what we saw from the cars in the Unlimited. Hopefully we can get this Love's Travel Stops Ford up front and hang out there most of the day and stay out of trouble.

"It's pretty wild running my first Daytona 500. It was four years ago I was running an ARCA race here. We drove eight hours down in a 15-passenger van to be able to race at the big track. And now we get to start in the Daytona 500. It's been a wild ride, and it happened very quickly. But it's very awesome to be here and have the opportunity right now. And happy to have a great partner like Love's on board with us."
