"The guys worked really hard on our Dockside Logistics Ford to get it back out there. I know it isn’t fun opening a hood of a race car that is as hot at it is and trying to work on it. Kudos to my guys for keeping their heads down and working at it and getting it fixed. Usually when you have engine trouble you are along for the ride. It ended up being something a little bit more simple than I guess we originally figured. We got back up and running and made some laps and made a really terrible day into just an OK day. Now we get to go to Darlington, and I am excited for that. I was excited to come here. Even with the troubles we had, the balance was really good, so it is a shame we didn’t really get to participate today."

Buescher Celebrates First Love's Travel Stop with Throwback Southern 500 Scheme

STATESVILLE, N.C. (August 24, 2016) – Chris Buescher and Love’s Travel Stops will turn the clock back to 1981 – the year Love’s opened its first travel stop – for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

Front Row Motorsports and Love’s unveiled the No. 34 team’s paint scheme for the Sept. 4 Sprint Cup Series race Wednesday on social media. The stripes replicate the look that was on the fuel canopies and the building’s façade at the company’s first travel stop, which opened in 1981 in Amarillo, Texas. Today Love’s has more than 390 locations in 40 states and employs more than 15,000 people.

“The Darlington throwback weekend has become a pretty big deal, and it’s cool to have Love’s Travel Stops bring some of their history into the race weekend with their old colors,” said Buescher. “Darlington is my favorite track, and I can’t wait to get there and turn some laps in this special Love’s Ford Fusion.”

The Darlington Raceway event will celebrate the decade spanning 1975 to 1984 at this year’s race with throwback paint schemes on all 40 entries. The Bojangles’ Southern 500 will air live on NBC Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. ET.

Best Michigan Finish: 20th

"I think for our camp at Front Row Motorsports, the lower the downforce we run, the better we are. And I think it’s on the Roush Fenway side as well. Our cars seem to like less downforce and be able to slide around a little bit more. I feel like it’s a place we can go and get some speed. We have an ARCA win there and ran really well there in the XFINITY car. It’s a track that’s extremely fast but very out of control.

"I’m pretty excited to go back to Michigan. We made some big gains in the points at Bristol to get into the top 30, and now we just have to make sure we stay there. We've got to play a little defense but also be aggressive at the same time to make sure we're getting everything we can out of each of the next three races before the Chase cut-off."

"That was a lot of fun. It’s been a long time since we’ve come to the race track and enjoyed it like that. We had awesome speed out of our Love’s Ford Fusion. I’m really proud of the team. This thing was good from the start of the weekend. We kept working our way up towards the end and got to the top five, and almost got one there at the end. I absolutely love this race track. What they did with the surface worked out really well and made for some really good racing.

"I know we had to get into the top 30 in points. That’s Chase eligibility in one race out of the four we had to do it. Now, we have to hold onto it. We’re looking forward to the next handful of races. We’ve got some really good tracks for us coming up. We knew Bristol would be a good one for us. It took us a day later to do it, but we got ourselves a top-5 and had a blast out here. That was an awesome run.”

NSCS Bristol Starts: 2
Best Bristol Finish: 21st

"We had good speed in our Love's Travel Stops Ford at Bristol earlier this year. I was pretty happy with where the car was throughout the weekend. It was probably our best practice session of the year, speed-wise. We ended up in the bottom lane for a lot of the late-race restarts, so it made for a bit of a tough finish after having better track position most of the day.

"I do like going to Bristol. It is different than the old Bristol, but it's a lot of fun to drive. It's frustrating at times but still a good race. So, I'm excited to head back there. I feel like it's a place where we can definitely get a top-15 or even a top-10 for our Love's Ford Fusion and get some of those points we need.

"Everybody loves racing under the lights. It's just a little bit different atmosphere. The fans really come out; they love it. It's one of those races that everyone talks about. It's got the hype around it that makes it a big deal."

No. 34 CSX 'Play It Safe' Ford

Started: 25th

"That is not how we expected that one to go. We got down to it at the end and were racing through the bus stop and came out of it, and I am not sure who, but a couple guys went through the dirt and caused a wall of dust that we couldn’t see through. I came through the other side of it and the 4 car was sitting there backwards. I tried to get down to avoid it and hooked the splitter in the mud, tucked it under and got stuck. I was trying to get it where I could drive back around but I had to get out, which meant I had to go to the care center to be checked. These CSX guys, they worked really hard to get this fixed quickly and got back on track and took the green flag with everybody else there. I am proud of them for that. They did a good job and we were still running there at the end. In the grand scheme of things, from a points standpoint, it was a little bit of a gain but we definitely don’t want to do it like that anymore.”

NSCS Watkins Glen Starts: 1
Best Watkins Glen Finish: 37th

"Obviously, we're excited to get to the race track with our CSX 'Play It Safe' Ford Fusion this weekend. We've got a win in our pocket and some points to gain to get into the Chase. We talked about it at the beginning of the season and the plan was always to try and make the Chase. That was the goal, so we’re that much closer now. We’ve got a hole to dig out of just from the superspeedway results, but we’re in a good spot and the cars have been getting faster each and every week.

"I love Watkins Glen. We ran really well there in the XFINITY car. I actually ran there with Front Row Motorsports last year for the Cup race. We were really good in practice and qualified decent, and unfortunately we had a mechanical failure on Lap 1. It made for a little bit of a long day. But we had a lot of fun in practice. I felt like I had a good feel for it. A lot of the characteristics of the XFINITY car actually carried over to the Cup car, which I was pretty surprised about. I think this can be another very good weekend for our team."

Buescher Earns First Sprint Cup Win

Rookie Takes FRM to Victory Lane at Pocono

STATESVILLE, N.C. (August 1, 2016) – Chris Buescher grabbed his first Sprint Cup Series win Monday, using pit strategy to put the No. 34 Ford out front before bad weather cut the race short at Pocono Raceway. The victory is the second for Bob Jenkins’ growing team and the first since David Ragan took the No. 34 to Victory Lane in 2013.

Buescher overcame a cut tire and a speeding penalty that put the Dockside Logistics Ford Fusion a lap down earlier in the race. The 23-year-old rookie had worked his way back to the lead lap when fog and rainy weather began to approach. As the rest of the field dipped to pit road for green-flag stops, crew chief Bob Osborne kept his driver on the track, low on fuel but in the lead, knowing the race might be halted.

As fog began to envelope the track and sprinkles began to fall, officials waved the caution flag and then the red flag, bringing the field down pit road with 22 scheduled laps remaining. Buescher then had to wait a nerve-wracking 80 minutes before the race was called official and the team rolled to Victory Lane to celebrate.

“This is going to change our whole year right here, so this puts us in a good situation,” Buescher said. “It was a lot of fun. The guys really toughed it out. It’s pretty awesome to be here right now.

“I was sitting there on pit road just kind of waiting for everything to happen,” Buescher continued. “And, to be quite honest with you, we’ve had some awful luck this year and a lot of things not quite go our way. I tried not to get my hopes up because I knew as soon as that fog rolled on out, we would have been restarting again. I was being a little bit selfish, but doing a rain dance and hoping the fog didn’t roll out.”

The start of the race had already been postponed a day by rainy weather. But, in hindsight, the team didn’t mind waiting an extra day to run the biggest event in Buescher’s young Cup career.

“I’m extremely proud of how far this team has come,” Jenkins said. “Chris is a proven champion and one heck of a driver. He drove the wheels off that car today and Bob (Osborne) made a great call. I’m disappointed I couldn’t be there to celebrate with the guys, but I’m absolutely enjoying this moment. I’m very proud of this team.”

Buescher is the first driver in the 2016 Sprint Cup rookie class to earn a win this season. He sits 31st in the championship standings, six points outside the top 30. He needs to be within the top 30 for his win to earn him a berth in the Chase. Five races remain in the regular season for him to move up in the standings and secure a spot in NASCAR’s playoffs.

“We had pretty steep odds coming into this one, but we’ve been heading in the right direction,” Buescher said. “There’s no mistaking that. We’ve been qualifying better. We’ve been racing better. We’ve had better speed, better averages. We’re in a good spot and we can definitely make up those six points. And we’re going to try to get a lot more than that and be ready when the Chase does start to make sure we can advance as it goes through.”

The victory is the 19th Cup career win for Osborne.

“I thought we had a top-15 car,” the veteran crew chief said. “It was decent and it was heading in the right direction from where we were the first race here and for where we are with our program. But with fate really going our way today and calls going our way, which we haven’t had a lot of this year, it put us in position to win it.”
