Cassill on Darlington"Throwback weekend was a really creative idea for Darlington to come up with. I think the sport and fans really embrace nostalgia, I think because of the rich history of the sport and that racetrack. For our Love's Travel Stops Ford, we're paying tribute to the color scheme of the old-style Love's canopies from the days of its first travel stop back in the 80s.
"The Southern 500 is a long race. It's excruciating. It's a tough race. But it's very rewarding if you come out on the good end of it. And that, of course, requires winning the battle with the wall. Our Love's Ford already has stripes on it, so we don't want to add any more."

No. 34 Love's Travel Stops Ford Started: 33rd | Finished: 35th (accident) "It’s just close quarters. Bristol is a tough race track and I was sliding up and I thought maybe there was a little room, but (DiBenedetto) just clipped me. It’s tough racing at Bristol. We fought hard all night and were on the verge of every run feeling like my car was kind of OK but not where I wanted it. I thought if we could stay on the right lap and get some adjustments in that we could run up there, but it never quite happened." Cassill on Bristol"Bristol's awesome. I just always enjoy that race track. I've had good fortune there, and Front Row Motorsports as a team has had some really good runs and good finishes there. It's a track where pit strategy can always come into play, and that can work to our advantage. We used pit strategy to get the lead last year and led a bunch of laps, so we know that's something that we can do again in our Love's Travel Stops Ford this Saturday night.
"With the VHT that they've been putting down, it's definitely made the place a little less predictable, a little tougher to figure out, but I think it's good for racing. It has an interesting effect over the course of a race with the way the rubber builds up on it. It can be a wild show for sure." No. 34 MDS Transport Ford
Started: 32nd | Finished: 25th "We needed to have a solid race with a good finish. We haven’t had one in a while. So, while we want to do better than top-25s, this was a good step. The car was really, really loose for a while, and the speed came when we tightened it up. I think if we get that balance right to start the race in the future, then we won’t get behind at all, and our finishes will be even better." Cassill on Michigan"I'm excited to get back to Michigan. It's kind of a new build of cars for us this time around. So, hopefully we can see an improved performance over the last couple of months. It's definitely a race that Seth (Barbour) and my guys have circled on their calendar. So, I'm really looking forward to it.
"This is always a big weekend for Ford. We'll be visiting with Ford employees at their facilities all day Thursday, and there will be a lot of special guests at the race. We definitely want all the Fords to put on a good show Sunday." Meet Landon Sunday, Aug. 13, 11:45am - Ford Performance display (Michigan International Speedway Fan Zone) No. 34 Jacob Companies Ford
Started: 32nd | Finished: 36th "Our Jacob Companies Ford wasn't quite where it needed to be to start the race, but our first and second set of adjustments helped improve it. I was optimistic that we could keep working on it and keep going in that direction. But then we blew a tire and broke a sway bar arm trying to nurse it back to pit road. So, unfortunately, we lost a few laps fixing that in the garage and didn't have much opportunity after that to advance." Cassill on Watkins Glen"I like road course racing. I wish we did more of it. I feel like every time we go to a road course, I kind of don’t get the hang of it until the end of the week, so I’d love to go more often and have more laps under my belt because I think road course racing is fun. And it seems like our race cars put on a good show at road courses, especially at Watkins Glen.
"The two road courses we go to, Watkins Glen and Sonoma, are so different. The Glen is really fast. There’s a lot of aero involved, so you have to bring a good car. You have to have a good set-up to even have a chance. We will work really hard on getting our Jacob Companies Ford handling well in race trim on Saturday so that we can have a good day on Sunday." |
