No. 34 MDS Transport Ford
Started: 28th | Finished: 25th "We had a good car today. Seth (Barbour) and the guys made some really good improvements to get it where we needed it to be for the race. The strategy didn't play out the way we needed it to, though, to get the top-20 that was within reach. But we're definitely starting to perform better on track and I like our chances of finishing the final eight races strong." Cassill on Loudon"We're coming off a really good day and a good finish at Chicagoland, and we want to keep that going at New Hampshire. We had a pretty good finish there in July, and I think we can even improve on that. I think we can qualify better and be better the first half of the race. In July, I felt like we made some good adjustments, and the car was at its best the second half of the race. It was pretty darn good. So, if we can start the race from that point and work from there, hopefully we'll have an even better finish.
"I thought the VHT they applied to the track made the racing better. It still raced the same way New Hampshire always races, but maybe passing was a little bit better. And that's good for these cars. Passing at New Hampshire is definitely tough. But we were able to run down on the bottom and get some grip on exit. It made for a good race, and I'm looking forward to going back."
Cassill on Chicago
"We definitely want to redeem ourselves at Chicago this weekend after the rough night we had in Richmond. We were out of the race early after cutting a tire and hitting the wall, which was really disappointing after we had a pretty fast car in practice. We've got CSX back on the car again this weekend promoting the 'Play It Safe' campaign, so we're definitely looking forward to having a better weekend. "I'll be greeting fans on Sunday morning at the main gate. A few months ago, when I was making all kinds of promises to people on Twitter based on how many retweets they could get, I promised Chicagoland Speedway to be their gate greeter on race day. I've done a bunch of fun things with these retweet deals, and I think this is one of the last ones to fulfill. It should be pretty cool saying hey to everybody as they come through the gates. "Chicago is an interesting and challenging race track. It’s got some age to the pavement, so it definitely feels like it produces some tire fall-off. The bumps in Turns 3 and 4 have gotten kind of violent, too, so the cars are definitely a challenge to set up for that place. But I think it’s a good mile-and-a-half race track. I don’t think these tracks are as ‘cookie cutter’ as people think they are." Cassill Milestone Sunday's race will be Cassill's 250th Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start Meet Landon Sunday, Sept. 17, 9:30am - Cassill will greet fans at the Chicagoland Speedway main entrance, fulfilling a "How Many Retweets" promise made in April No. 34 CSX "Play It Safe" Ford
Started: 30th | Finished: 39th (accident) "I think the left rear tire was cut down -- I am not really sure. We just hit the wall. It is really tough because we had good speed in practice earlier in the weekend. We were really looking forward to this race, and then we didn’t even get a pit stop. Just a tough night for our CSX team to be done so early when I know we had a car that could've given us a much better finish." assill on Richmond"Richmond is just a great race track and always a great race, day or night. Especially to close out the regular season, there should be a lot of excitement there. We'll have CSX back on our car this weekend, and it's always a big event for them, promoting the 'Play It Safe' campaign.
"You could run all over the track when we were there in May. I don’t know if it was because of the daylight, but we ran all over the race track. I’m not really one that thinks that the top works at Richmond, but I ran the top for a good portion of my race. And I also ran the bottom. It’s fun getting around that track. I love going to Richmond." Meet Landon Saturday, Sept. 9, 4:30pm - Ford Performance display (Richmond Raceway Fan Zone) No. 34 Love's Travel Stops Ford
Started: 31st | Finished: 21st "I thought our Love's Travel Stops Ford was really good on the long runs. The car was a lot looser toward the end of the race, which kind of hurt us. I also think we wish we'd pitted twice that last run and had another shot at tires and adjustments, but overall the guys did a great job. That was a good finish for us." |
