Chris Buescher • No. 34 CSX 'Play It Safe' Ford
NSCS Martinsville Starts: 1 Best Martinsville Finish: 24th "I ran the first Martinsville Cup race last year. And I learned really quickly that it is a rough track to race at. It’s just really tough. It’s not the same as a Saturday night short track event. When you get that many laps and that many cars, you can’t go anywhere. It’s really tough to pass. It’s really tough to move around. But, I love short track racing, and I’m hoping that what I learned last time will apply this time around and we’ll be able to be a little bit better and try to get a top-20 or top-15 run there. “It’s mentally and physically challenging. I remember my knee hurt from pushing the brake pedal a thousand times during the day as hard as you do there. That was the big thing for me. It can be very exhausting, but it can also be a great racetrack to go have fun at. We’ll have CSX back on our No. 34 Ford Fusion with the ‘Play It Safe’ campaign. It might get bumped and bruised a bit, but we’re going to try to keep our car safe and push it toward the front.” ### Contact: Shari Spiewak Front Row Motorsports office: 704-873-6445 x215 cell: 704-200-1779 sspiewak@frontrowmotorsports.com

NSCS Fontana Starts: 1 Best Fontana Finish: 20th “I am looking forward to Fontana. It’s where I ran my first Cup race last year with the 34 guys. We ended up 20th and we raced really well for my first time in the car and everybody trying to make do with me there and trying to make it work with somebody else’s seat insert. It was chaotic, but it worked out really well and I had a blast at that track. It’s great to have Love’s Travel Stops on our Ford Fusion for our return there. The guys have a good car prepared and I think we can have another really good day. “It’s just nice to be able to move around. The asphalt’s very worn out, much like Atlanta. And with the new downforce package, I look for it to be even better yet. There’s going to be even more fall-off in the pace, which we definitely saw last year. And I think that’ll leave people searching for more lines as the race goes on.”
"Phoenix hasn’t been too good to me. Or vice versa, I’m not sure. I just haven’t had the best runs there. I like the race track – it’s very unique – and I like racing there. I’ve just got to try to find some more speed. And a lot of that’s on me. I’m hoping this car will suit me a little bit better when we do get there. We’ll find that out very shortly.
“I imagine the aero changes will have less effect at Phoenix. Turn 1 has a lot of banking to hold you, so that’ll be about mechanical. You do have a lot of entry speed getting into Turn 3, and it’s very flat. So, I feel like that’s going to be where the different aero package will show up. That being said, you might talk to somebody else and they’ll tell you the exact opposite, but that would be my opinion heading into it.”

NSCS Las Vegas Starts: 0 Best Las Vegas Finish: N/A “We're definitely in a learning stage right now with the new downforce package and me going to some tracks that I've never run a Cup car on. But we're making progress each week and will continue to do so. Our Love's Travel Stops Ford Fusion took a really hard hit at Daytona, so we definitely want a better finish for Love's this week in Vegas. "I would imagine that almost nothing is going to apply from Atlanta last week to Vegas this week. Hearing what I’m hearing from the Vegas test notes, it’s going to be just brutally fast, lots of grip, lots of time on the throttle and a lot of corner speed. I’ve been running a lot of time on the simulator, and there’s just a huge difference between the two. “You won’t find me spending a ton of time in the casinos in Vegas. I’m a 'high-stakes' gambler. I take 20 dollars with me. I’m willing to lose that 20 bucks, and that’s about it." ### Contact: Shari Spiewak Front Row Motorsports office: 704-873-6445 x215 cell: 704-200-1779 sspiewak@frontrowmotorsports.com |
