Gilliland Leads the Most Laps & Wins Two Stages Before Getting Pushed Up into the Wall While Leading at WWT Raceway

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150
Start: 6th (based on qualifying formula)
Finish: 22nd
  • Stage One: 1st
  • Stage Two: 1st
  • Stage Three: 22nd

  • Todd Gilliland started sixth at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Ill., on Sunday afternoon in the No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150. He had a fast truck and drove up to take the lead on lap 46. Gilliland led until the end of Stage One on lap 55 to earn 10 valuable stage points. For this race there were no live pit stops, instead a three-minute break where teams could change tires, add fuel and make adjustments without losing, or gaining positions on pit road.

  • When the second stage began, Gilliland restarted first and maintained the lead. In fact, he led every lap of the second stage of the race and collected another 10 stage points for winning Stage Two on lap 110 of 160. He brought his Crosley Brands Ford F-150 to pit road for his final set of tires, fuel and a slight adjustment to free up the truck just a bit.

  • When the final stage began, Gilliland held off a challenge for the lead from Christian Eckes to maintain his place out front. With about 40 laps remaining in the race, Sheldon Creed drove down inside Gilliland for the lead, but could not hold his line. He drove up into Gilliland, knocking him into the outside wall. Gilliland was forced to pit to clear the sheet metal away from the tires, which cost him two laps on the track and dropped him back to 24th. In the final laps, he was able to make up a few spots to finish 22nd. Gilliland remains 10th in the playoff point standings, but is now 15 points above the cut line.

Gilliland on WWT Raceway: "I think he (Sheldon Creed) knows what happened and I think I know what happened. He just drove in there over his head and it got us. That's racing, but I just hate it. My guys work day and night for me and it was so cool to have Crosley Brands on board. The hit probably wasn't hard enough for me to hit the wall, just got me out of shape there. Man, we just had such a good truck from the beginning going from sixth to first under green and to win both stages. Gosh it was such a good day. I feel like this has been one of the more dominate truck races I've ever run. We just need to keep this up. The guys we are racing for points sucked today and man we needed those points. It's just all we could do. I have to thank Crosley Brands, Ford, Front Row Motorsports and Bob Jenkins. I hope they were all proud watching us and we're going to do the same thing at Darlington next Sunday."

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 The Pete Store Ford F-150
Start: 17th (based on qualifying formula)
Finish: 4th
  • Stage One: 10th
  • Stage Two: 6th
  • Stage Three: 4th

  • Todd Gilliland fired off 17th Friday at Dover (Del.) International Speedway in his No. 38 The Pete Store Ford F-150 based on NASCAR's new performance-based qualifying formula. He was loose in and tight off early in the race, but wasted no time moving up through the field. He was up to 13th by lap 20 when NASCAR planned a competition caution. While some drivers pitted, he opted to stay out and wait to pit until the stage break. When Stage One ended on lap 45, Gilliland was in 10th to gain valuable stage points. He pitted for four tires, fuel and just an air pressure adjustment.

  • When the second stage began, Gilliland was 15th. He quickly moved back up to 10th and toward the end of the stage he told the team he felt like the right-front tire was going away, so he did not want to push it. Stage Two ended a few laps early due to a caution for an accident and Gilliland was up to sixth. He pitted for tires, fuel and no adjustments, and a quick stop by the Front Row Motorsports team helped him pick up a spot on pit road.

  • When the final stage began, Gilliland was fourth. He moved into second after the restart, but let a few faster trucks by who he was not racing for points. He settled into fourth until the field began to cycle through green-flag pit stops. Gilliland brought The Pete Store Ford to pit road on lap 166 for the final time and was back in fourth once everyone had pitted. A caution with eight laps remaining set up a three-lap shootout to the finish. Gilliland held his ground and finished the race fourth for his fourth top-five finish of the season. He is now four points above the playoff cut line in 10th place.

Gilliland on Dover: "It was really cool to have The Pete Store on our truck and get a top-five finish. We're right on the bubble and we need to have these good days, but the guys around us are stepping up too, so we just have to maximize every race. I'm really proud of this Front Row Motorsports team and the race we ran today. We needed that as a team. We're pretty close and getting closer. I can't wait to get to Gateway next week."

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 The Pete Store Ford F-150
With only four races remaining before the playoffs, Todd Gilliland has his work cut out for him this Friday at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. After an alternator issue left him in 33rd place last weekend at the Daytona road course, he is now only two points above the cut line for the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGROTS) playoffs. A win at Dover would lock him in, but more bad luck could leave him on the outside looking in.

Gilliland has three NGROTS starts at The Monster Mile with a best finish of 10th in 2018. He also has three starts there in K&N East competition with a best finish of third last year.

This Friday the Front Row Motorsports team will be taking the same Ford F-150 Gilliland raced in the doubleheader races at Kansas Speedway in July where he finished 10th and 20th after a flat tire late in the race.

Gilliland will have a new sponsor on his truck this weekend. The Pete Store is a growing network of Peterbilt truck dealerships, with locations spanning the Eastern United States. Through their exclusive Peterbilt dealerships they offer sales of new and pre-owned trucks, truck parts, body shops, and truck service. A recipient of numerous awards, including Peterbilt North American Dealer of the Year (2004, 2016 and 2018), The Pete Store is a respected dealer in the transportation industry with a track record for quality support.

The KDI Office Technology 200 from Dover International Speedway will be run on Friday, Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 200-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 45 and 90.

Quick Facts:
Number of Truck Series Starts at Dover: 3
Best Start: 3rd (2018)
Best Finish: 10th (2018)
2020 Driver Point Standings: 10th (+2 above playoff cut line)

Gilliland on Dover: "I've run about four, or five races at Dover between K&N and Trucks and I think I've finished one race. We're definitely looking to have a good run this weekend. Every one of these races is super important where we are right now on the bubble for the playoff cut line. I have to clear my memory and go into Dover with a clean slate every time to not be intimidated from past results. I know our Front Row Motorsports team is capable of bringing a truck with winning speed, but it's about being able to wrap the bottom early and maybe move up if there are opportunities to do that. I'd say just carrying a lot of speed is the number one goal through the turns."

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford F-150
Start: 6th (based on qualifying formula)
Finish: 33rd
  • Stage One: 5th
  • Stage Two: 32nd
  • Stage Three: 33rd

  • Todd Gilliland rolled off sixth Sunday afternoon in his No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford F-150 based on NASCAR's new performance-based qualifying formula. He moved up to fourth within the first five laps and was fifth when the first stage ended on lap 12. He came to pit road for four tires and fuel, and picked up one position in the pits with a fast stop by the Front Row Motorsports team.

  • When the second stage began, Gilliland was 19th since several trucks pitted before the stage break and stayed out on track. He told the team the voltage was low, even after turning off fans and his cool box. He was forced to pit on lap 18 while running ninth to change the battery in his truck. The stop left him in 32nd place and two laps down when the second stage ended on lap 25. The team determined there was an issue with the alternator since the new battery was draining quickly as well. They replaced the battery again during this stop.

  • When the final stage began, Gilliland was 33rd and still two laps down. The alternator issue continued and he came to pit road two more times in the final stage to replace the battery. With eight laps remaining in the race, the truck would not start despite showing 13 volts on the dash. Gilliland's race was over as the team pushed him to the garage. He was scored in 33rd place, 10 laps down when the race ended. He remains 10th in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series driver point standings, but is now only two points above the cut line.

Gilliland on Daytona: "Today was heartbreaking. We had a good Frontline Enterprises Ford and it was pretty racy in the first stage, but whatever happened with the alternator we could not keep a battery charged. I did everything I could in the truck trying to save power, but it wasn't enough. We changed batteries four times trying to make it to the end since several trucks dropped out and we wanted to pick up as many points as we could, but the final time it wouldn't crank so our day was done. I hate it for my FRM guys who worked so hard on this truck.

"We'll put this behind us and regroup for Dover next Friday. That's a fun track and hopefully we can get a win there to lock ourselves into the playoffs."

Daytona Road Course Could be Gilliland's Trip to Victory Lane

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford F-150
Todd Gilliland has had this Sunday's race at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway road course marked on his calendar since NASCAR announced it. Although the 20-year-old has not won on a road course yet, he has come close several times and feels this weekend is another shot at Victory Lane in the No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford F-150.

Gilliland has made nine road course starts in various series resulting in four second-place finishes. He finished second in both doubleheader races at Utah Motorsports Campus in the K&N West Series and led 21 laps in 2106. He also scored second twice in 2017 in the K&N East Series at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International and New Jersey Motorsports Park.

His most heartbreaking road race came in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series in Canada in 2018. He led the final 11 laps of the race and thought he had his first Truck Series win in sight, until the final corner when then teammate, Noah Gragson, tried to make a pass resulting in both trucks spinning off course. Gilliland finished 11th.

The Sunoco 159 from Daytona International Speedway will be run on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 12 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 44-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 12 and 25.

Quick Facts:
Number of Truck Series Road Course Starts: 3 (Bowmanville, Ontario)
Best Start: 2nd (2019)
Best Finish: 11th (2017 & 2018)
2020 Driver Point Standings: 10th (+29 above playoff cut line)

Gilliland on Daytona: "I feel like we've always run well at road courses, so I'm super excited. I've come so close to winning on road courses before, and this would be the perfect time for that to happen and lock us into the playoffs. All of these races coming up are very important so we need to run well. We're only 29 points above the cut line for the playoffs, so we don't have room for any bad races. Frontline Enterprises has been a big supporter of mine for several years and we got them to Victory Lane at Talladega in the ARCA race last year, so hopefully we can do it again Sunday."

Gilliland Comes Home Fifth at Michigan

Start: 19th (based on random drawing)
Finish: 5th
  • Stage One: 13th
  • Stage Two: 3rd
  • Stage Three: 5th

  • Todd Gilliland rolled off from 19th place Friday evening at MIS in the No. 38 Speedco Ford F-150. Within a few laps he was up to 12th, but when a caution came with seven laps to go before the end of Stage One, the team decided to pit for tires, fuel and adjustments so he could stay out during the stage break and gain track position. The early pit stop left him in 13th to end Stage One.

  • When the second stage began, Gilliland was third and he maintained that position for the entire 20-lap stage to gain valuable points to end Stage Two. At lap 40 he pitted for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment to free up the Speedco Ford.

  • When the final stage began Gilliland was second. With numerous cautions and restarts in the final stage of the race, his track position varied throughout the top 10. With the new "choose cone" rule, he was able to gain spots by choosing a lane with fewer trucks ahead of him. As the laps wound down, more cautions forced not one, but two overtime attempts at a green, white, checker finish. Gilliland was 11th to start the final attempt and as the leaders wrecked ahead of him he kept his foot on the gas and finished the race fifth. The solid finish helped him gain a few more points to stay above the playoff cut line in 10th place (+29).

Gilliland on Michigan: "We worked hard all day to get that fifth-place finish. We started 19th, so on paper it's going to look like a good day, but a lot of good trucks wrecked and we still aren't where we need to be. My Front Row Motorsports team is working harder than ever and this is still good momentum. A good finish is always good for morale. We've got a busy week ahead of us and I love road course racing, so I can't wait to get to Daytona next weekend. Big thanks to Speedco, Love's, Ford and Front Row Motorsports for giving me this opportunity. Another top five is a great thing and we'll keep building."

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Speedco/Love's Ford F-150
Todd Gilliland is hoping to turn his NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGROTS) season around this weekend at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Coming off 10th and 20th-place finishes in the doubleheader at Kansas Speedway two weeks ago, Gilliland is looking for a strong run to keep him safely above the cut line for the Truck Series playoffs.

Gilliland has two prior NGROTS starts at the fast two-mile track. He had his best run in 2018 when he started second and finished fifth. Last year he was running around the top five when he was ironically caught up in an accident with the three DGR-Crosley trucks and finished 24th.

The Front Row Motorsports team will be taking the same Speedco Ford F-150 it raced at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May where Gilliland finished 37th after being involved in an accident.

Speedco, part of the Love's family of companies, will be back on Gilliland's No. 38 Ford F-150 at Michigan. Love's provides professional truck drivers and motorists with 24-hour access to clean and safe places to purchase gasoline, diesel fuel, fresh coffee, restaurant offerings and more. Love's has more than 380 truck service centers, which include on-site and stand-alone Speedco and Love's Truck Care locations. Love's and Speedco combined is the largest oil change, preventive maintenance and total truck care nationwide network. Love's is committed to providing customers with "Clean Places, Friendly Faces" at every stop. To learn more, visit loves.com.

The NGROTS 200 from Michigan International Speedway will be run on Friday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 100-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 20 and 40.

Quick Facts:
Number of Starts at Michigan: 2
Best Start: 2nd (2018)
Best Finish: 5th (2018)
2020 Driver Point Standings: 10th (+22 above playoff cut line)

Gilliland on Michigan: "I'm really looking forward to going back to Michigan. It's a fun track because it's very fast and there are several lines you can run since it's so wide. I had a great run there in 2018 and had a good run going last year until I got caught up in a wreck in the last few laps. We're 10th in the points right now, so hopefully all of our bad luck is behind us. We need some good runs to stay above the cut line for the playoffs. A win this Friday would be a good way to do that and lock ourselves into the playoffs."
