"It was a frustrating day here at Sonoma Raceway. Our Love’s Travel Stops Ford qualified really well inside of the top 15, but we battled a tight race car early on in the race and had two spinouts, causing us to pit under green and get off sequence from the rest of the field. I was able to test in Chicago a few weeks back, so I’m just ready to get there next weekend and try to deliver a strong finish for our No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops team."
"It was great to be back at Sonoma for a road course race. Unfortunately, we got some nose damage in the first half of the race, which hurt us a bit. We were able to learn a lot this weekend and I certainly wish we had another chance to do it all over again, but we’ll regroup this week and move onto Chicagoland. I'm glad we were able to have Acquire Investments, Bounce Innovation Hub and Unshackled Ventures on the car with us, and that we could help support businesses from my hometown this weekend."
No. 38 #ThanksDW Ford Mustang Started: 18th | Finished: 20th
"A solid day for our No. 38 team. We qualified and ran inside of the top 20 all day long. We needed a caution in that final stage to race for a top 15, but I’m happy with the overall performance of my car this weekend. All in all, we learned a few things that will help us for Watkins Glen as well. Thanks again to DW and the contributions he has made to our sport. It was a real honor to represent him on my car this weekend at Sonoma."
"Tough day for our No. 34 Melling Performance Ford Mustang. We had a Top-20 car all day long, but had a loose right front wheel late in the race and had to pit under green, which put us down a lap to where we were not able to make it back up. It was really special to have Melling Performance on our car this weekend for my 300th Cup start and I look forward to hopefully having them back on board with us in the near future."
"All in all, it was a decent weekend for our No. 36 Surface Sunscreen/Tunity Ford. We took tires during that last caution, and on the restart, hit the splitter and slid up, and it didn't work out the way we needed it to. We almost got another Top-20 but came home P24. It was incredibly hard to pass all throughout the race, so we've just gotta do a little bit better job to get our cars to be able to cut through the air better. I had a pit road speeding penalty early on, so we've also got to clean up some mistakes here and there. We'll reflect and regroup in the off-weekend. I'm looking forward to going road course racing at Sonoma, which is one of my favorites."
No. 38 CITGARD Ford Mustang Started: 24th | Finished: 34th
"A really unfortunate day for our No. 38 CITGARD Ford, as we showed really good speed all race long, running inside of the Top-15 at times before having a flat right rear tire and making contact with the wall. After that, we cut down multiple right rears and had to make multiple green flag pit stops which put us a few laps down and we just could not recover."
"We had some ups and downs today. We made some good changes, got up in the top 20 and then took some damage with lapped traffic which knocked the nose of our car in and that hurt us. But my team worked hard, we were able to get back on the lead lap, fell back into position and earned a top-20 finish, which is something to build on. I’m really proud of everybody’s hard work."
"Well, the Tricky Triangle lived up to its name for our No. 36 Surface Sunscreen/Tunity Ford. Thought we had a good shot at another top-20 finish, but things just didn’t go our way today. I spun out just trying to be aggressive on a restart and then we lost 4th gear on a different restart and had to take the car to the garage for repairs, which put us in a 32-lap deficit. I’m proud of the way my guys rallied, though, and I’m looking forward to having another shot next week at Michigan."
"We had a rough day with our Exploria Resorts Ford Mustang. We fired off pretty good in the first Stage, making some good improvements. Our Mustang was a little faster than it was on Saturday, but I got into the wall to start the second Stage, had a little bit of damage and after a few series of cautions and multiple flat tires, we went multiple laps down and couldn’t rebound. It’s unfortunate because I felt like we could have run in the top 20 today, but having 3 or 4 consecutive restarts where we had damage and had to pit under green, we lost too many laps and by that point you kind of get in a hole and it’s hard to dig your way out. Thank you to Exploria Resorts and Rich Mar Florist for coming along with our team this weekend at Pocono Raceway."
