A Recap of the Weekend Past

It was Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Love's Travel Stops/Martin Transportation Systems team leading the charge this past weekend for Front Row Motorsports (FRM). McDowell raced in the top-15 late in Sunday's race in Michigan before finishing 20th.

Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 team finished 29th at the WWT Raceway in Madison, Ill. after being involved in an accident.

Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 Golden Nugget Online Casino Ford team also had bad luck. The team finished 34th at the Michigan International Speedway after a cut tire caused damage to the car.

TODD GILLILAND. NO. 38 CROSLEY BRANDS FORD F-150. FINISHED 29.

Gilliland and the No. 38 Crosley Brands team did not have their way this past Friday night at the WWT Raceway located in Madison, Illinois. The team started the race third, but didn't have the speed they wanted on short runs. Gilliland finished sixth at the end of Stage 1.

A power outage delayed the race in Stage 2 and Gilliland and the team discussed the changes needed. It did not matter, however, as Gilliland was swept up in a wreck on Lap 113. The accident ultimately ended the team's night early.

Gilliand is now eighth in the NASCAR Camping World Series Playoffs. The series returns to action at the Darlington (S.C.) Raceway Labor Day weekend.

GILLILAND ON WWT RACEWAY:

"It''s a pretty frustrating way to begin our Playoffs. I was pushing the truck in front of me and then just got hit and sent into the wall. I later went back and saw what happened in front of me. Still, we weren't that good taking off. The Crosley Brands Ford F-150 was fast once we got into the run, but we were getting too far behind. We want to be competing for the win, so we need to regroup before Darlington."

MICHAEL MCDOWELL. NO. 34 MARTIN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 20

McDowell and the No. 34 team has had their mojo back the past two weekends. Although the final results have not shown it, the team has had fast cars that have been competing for top-10 finishes late in the race.

Sunday at Michigan, the Love's Travel Stops/Martins Transportation Systems Ford Mustang was fast all day as McDowell moved up from the 20's and raced in the top-15 throughout the second and final stages.

A late race restart, McDowell just didn't have the restart after suffering a hole in the front nose. McDowell finished 20th.

MCDOWELL ON MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:

"We had a bad restart at the end with some damage, but overall, we had a pretty good Love's Travel Stops/Martin Transportation Systems Ford Mustang. The car got better throughout the day, we missed wrecks and had ourselves in a spot for another top-10. It seems that we're back to having fast cars, we just want to close the races with better finishes."

ANTHONY ALFREDO. NO. 38 GOLDEN NUGGET CASINO FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 34

Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 team had high hopes that the new Golden Nugget Casino partnership was going to parlay Alfredo to a season-best finish Sunday at the Michigan International Speedway.

Early in the race, Alfredo was fast and moved up close to the top-25. The team made slight adjustments to help Alfredo race in traffic and he continued to hover around 25th.

The Golden Nugget team then had a cut tire that also broke the brake line. The team had to go behind the wall for repairs. Alfredo lost many laps, but did finish the race.

ALFREDO ON MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:

"I don't know what to say anymore. It's another bad luck incident. We cut a tire and that tore the brake line off. We had to come back to the garage, repair that, and then just ride it out. I appreciate the team not giving up. Our Golden Nugget Ford Mustang was pretty solid. We were being patient to try and get track position at the end. But, something little got us again. I'm excited about Daytona and maybe we can pull out the win and make the Playoffs."
