Front Row Motorsports Cup Series Race Report - Dover

No. 34 Pete Store Ford Mustang Dark Horse:

Another Top-10 start for Michael McDowell, his career-best start at Dover, showed a promising afternoon as the No. 34 Pete Store Ford Mustang Dark Horse had early pace with the leaders. However, on the first pit stop of the day after a caution on lap 40, McDowell was given a pit road speeding penalty and sent back to the tail end of the longest line. Trying to fight through traffic and to stay on the lead lap, proved a difficult task for Stages 1 and 2. Unfortunately, McDowell had to retire the car on lap 285 after mechanical issues plagued the No. 34 machine most of the early part of Stage 3.

Start: 8th

Stage One: 30th

Stage Two: 29th

Race Result: 36th

DRIVER MICHAEL MCDOWELL:

"It was a challenging day. We fired off pretty good. We needed a little bit of adjustment, but we just miscalculated with our pit road. That put us in the back and then just fighting all day to try and get back up. Once we got in the back of the pack it was really tough to pass, just like it is for everybody, but we had a good car at the start of the race. Obviously, Dover is a high load, high wear and tear on parts, but we haven’t had any issues like this in the past, so we’ll just have to dig into it."

No. 38 A&W All American Food Ford Mustang Dark Horse:

Todd Gilliland qualified 30th in the A&W All American Food Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Gilliland settled in for the 400-mile haul, battling a tight race car and changing track conditions in the early stages of the race. On lap 40, Gilliland spun off of the exit of Turn 4 after losing control of his Ford Mustang Dark Horse, resulting in four flat tires. Gilliland made it back to pit road but went down six laps in the process. Gilliland and the team's luck continued to struggle after the No. 38 suffered suspension problems. Gilliland finished the race in the 31st position.

Start: 30th

Stage One: 36th

Stage Two: 36th

Race Result: 31st

DRIVER TODD GILLILAND:

"Just an overall frustrating weekend. I didn't have the best qualifying lap and it went downhill from there with that spin in Stage 1 and the suspension issues. We just have to learn from it and get our heads right for Kansas."
