No. 34 Horizon Hobby Ford Mustang Dark Horse:

Michael McDowell started 21st for Sunday's race at the Kansas in the Horizon Hobby Ford Mustang Dark Horse. After a series of early yellow flags, the No. 34 decided to get two tires to gain track position, unfortunately McDowell was caught speeding on pit road and had to start from the rear of the field. McDowell was able to gain spots before finishing Stage 1 in 26th place. He finished Stage 2 in 29th position and held serve in the final stage to finish 29th.

Start: 21st

Stage One: 26th

Stage Two: 29th

Race Result: 29th

DRIVER MICHAEL MCDOWELL:

"It was a frustrating race for sure. We really struggled with the balance of the car and did everything we could to try to flip the strategy with our Horizon Hobby Ford Mustang. Getting that speeding penalty messed up our strategy to try to stay up front. We'll look forward to Talladega next week to hopefully have a better result."

No. 38 Rasmussen Air & Gas Energy Ford Mustang Dark Horse:

Todd Gilliland qualified 33rd in NASCAR's second visit to the Kansas Speedway. Buckling in for a long one, Gilliland started chipping away at the competition. There were two cautions in Stage 1, with Gilliland pitting for right-side tires and fuel during the second yellow. Gilliland finished Stage 2 in 22nd. After taking tires and fuel under caution, Gilliland went back to work but struggled with the handling of his race car throughout the stage. Avoiding the cautions and taking trips to pit road, Gilliland finished Stage 2 in 22nd. In a mostly calm final stage that saw a green flag stop and two cautions, Gilliland crossed the start / finish line in the 27th position.

Start: 33rd

Stage One: 22nd

Stage Two: 22nd

Race Result: 27th

DRIVER TODD GILLILAND:

"It was a frustrating day all around. We qualified in the back and just never could get it right with the adjustments we made. You'll have races like that, though. We have a good track in Talladega coming up. Hopefully our luck will turn around soon."
