No. 34 Long John Silver's Ford Mustang Dark Horse:
Starting in 31st on wet-weather tires, Michael McDowell worked to get his No. 34 Ford Mustang Dark Horse up to the front. Fighting a tight racecar after the lap-30 competition caution allowed drivers to switch to slick tires, the No. 34 finished Stage 1 in 33rd position. In Stage 2, McDowell reached as high as 20th position, but as pit stops cycled through and an untimely caution forced the No. 34 team to make up ground in the final stage, ending the night in 26th place.
Start: 31st
Stage One: 33rd
Stage Two: 31st
Race Result: 26th
DRIVER MICHAEL MCDOWELL:
“Crazy race for sure with the wet weather tires and strategy. Our Ford Mustang Dark Horse was really tight at the beginning of the race, but Travis (Peterson) made some good adjustments to help our car get better. Unfortunately, cautions made it difficult for us to see our pit strategy through. Had those runs gone a little longer, I think we would have been a little bit better."
No. 38 FARXIGA® (dapagliflozin) Ford Mustang Dark Horse:
Todd Gilliland qualified 6th in the FARXIGA Ford Mustang Dark Horse, a career-best at the track in his NASCAR Cup Series career. Holding off his competitors in wet tires, Gilliland and the team switched to slicks under the lap-30 competition caution, where they finished Stage 1 in 6th and gathered valuable stage points. Gilliland held strong throughout the final two stages, competing within the top-25 before crossing the start/finish line in the 21st position to end his night.
Start: 6th
Stage One: 6th
Stage Two: 22nd
Race Result: 21st
DRIVER TODD GILLILAND:
"It's frustrating for sure, we qualified really well and just weren't there in the end. We fought hard all race to try and stay on the lead lap and pick up some sports, but it just wasn't in the cards for us this week. We'll get them next week in Martinsville."
