Front Row Motorsports Heads to the Heartland for Kansas Races

Kansas Speedway Competition Notes

TEAM AND RACE NOTES:

Front Row Motorsports is bringing a full stable to Kansas Speedway with both Cup Series and Truck Series racing in the heartland.

Layne Riggs returns to the track after a two-week break in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series schedule, ready to make his Kansas Speedway debut in the Love's RV Stop F-150. Front Row Motorsports and the No. 38 have had past successes in the Truck Series at Kansas, including a streak of four consecutive top-5 finishes, dating back to the spring race in 2022 - where Zane Smith won for FRM and Ford.

Michael McDowell will be making his 26th Cup Series start at the 1.5-mile oval, with the iconic Love's RV Stop paint scheme back on the car. Todd Gilliland looks to bounce back, in the Long John Silver's livery, at a track where he's seen success in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series with three top-10 finishes (2019, 20, 21).

It's a one-day Saturday show for Riggs with Truck Series practice and qualifying at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 4th. The Cup Series will follow with their practice and qualifying session after, at 5:00 p.m. ET. The Truck Series race will be Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. ET on FS1, and the 400-mile Cup Series event will take place Sunday, May 5th at 3:00 p.m. ET. Both will be televised live on FS1. Fans can also listen in on the action live from Sirius XM Channel 90 and the Motor Racing Network.

CUP SERIES COMPETITION NOTES:

No. 34 Love's RV Stop Ford Mustang Dark Horse:

DRIVER MICHAEL MCDOWELL:

"We've been pretty good at Kansas where we've been close to a top-10 finish the past few races. These are challenging tracks, but we'll work hard to be ready. Every race is important going forward and we just need to bring our best car and execute with no mistakes."

CREW CHIEF TRAVIS PETERSON:

"We’ve had a lot of things go wrong lately, but the cars have had speed. If we can continue to show up with fast cars each week, sooner or later all the issues and execution errors will go away and we will get back to finishing where we are capable of. Last race at Kansas we qualified really well, and we need to repeat that again to keep good track position. We just need to put together a complete race and score a good result to get the momentum back on track."

No. 38 Long John Silver's Ford Mustang Dark Horse:

DRIVER TODD GILLILAND:

"Dover was frustrating. You will have races like that but myself and the team know we are better than that. We've had our time dwelling on it and learning for next time, but we need to shift our focus to this weekend at Kansas and make up for lost points. I have a feeling we'll have a solid race."

CREW CHIEF RYAN BERGENTY:

"Last week is in the past. We just need to learn from it and move on to Kansas. Todd (Gilliland) has had success there before, we just need to execute and bring a fast Ford Mustang Dark Horse. I think we can bring home a solid finish."

TRUCK SERIES COMPETITION NOTES:

No. 38 Love's RV Stop Ford F-150:

DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

"It's been a nice couple of weeks off, for sure, but it's nice to be back in the shop and getting to work with Dylan (Cappello) and the guys. FRM has ran pretty well at Kansas in the past with both Todd (Gilliland) and Zane (Smith), so I know it's possible to come home with a solid finish, we just have to execute and not make any mistakes."

CREW CHIEF DYLAN CAPPELLO:

"The past two off-weeks have been a nice reset. Layne (Riggs), myself, and the team utilized the break to reevaluate and prepare of the stretch of races coming up. We're prepared, we just have to minimize the mistakes on all fronts to execute successfully."
