TEAM AND RACE NOTES:
Front Row Motorsports heads to the Richmond (Va.) Raceway after NASCAR's two week, Olympic break.
Todd Gilliland and the team look to pick up where they left off at the 0.75-mile Virginia track, after a sixth-place finish at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the two-week, Olympic break. Gilliland has a career best finish of 15th at the track, but the team looks to best that this weekend with The Pete Store on board.
Michael McDowell has a career best finish of sixth at the short-track, but looks to improve that this weekend, hopefully with a win to lock himself into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. The iconic Love's Travel Stops livery returns under the lights for the 400-mile event.
This will be Layne Riggs' second visit to the track, competing there in 2022. Riggs enters the weekend in a must-win situation to make the 2024 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Playoffs in the iconic yellow, Love's RV Stop Ford F-150.
It will be a one-day show for Riggs and the No. 38, kicking off the weekend with practice and qualifying at 2:30 pm ET on Saturday, August 10th. The Clean Harbors 250 is scheduled for Saturday evening at 7:30 pm ET and will be televised live on FS1. On track activity for the NASCAR Cup Series will start with practice and qualifying on Saturday, August 10th at 4:30 pm ET. The Cook Out 400 is scheduled for Sunday, August 11th at 6:00 pm ET. Fans can watch the action live on the USA Network. Fans can listen to both races on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM channel 90.
CUP SERIES COMPETITION NOTES:
No. 34 Love's Travel Stops Ford Mustang Dark Horse:
DRIVER MICHAEL MCDOWELL:
"I'm excited to be back behind the wheel. The break was nice, but we still have a lot of work to do. There are only a few races left before the playoffs, but I'm confident in us to get the win and lock ourselves in. We're looking to gain some momentum here at Richmond and this final stretch of regular season races."
CREW CHIEF TRAVIS PETERSON:
"We just have a totally different attitude towards the short tracks this year, especially coming out of the two-week break. We’ve made a lot of great gains, and it has shown. I think we need a little more speed, but I think we can compete in the Top-10 again and have a good day. Right now, every lap is important for us to have a good finish."
No. 38 Pete Store Ford Mustang Dark Horse:
DRIVER TODD GILLILAND:
"I'm looking forward to going back to the Richmond Raceway. I haven't had the best results there, but we qualified 6th in the spring, so I think we have a solid shot this weekend to leave with a result we can be proud of. The break was nice, but I'm happy to be back in the shop and heading to the track this weekend. There is still a lot of racing left in the season and each race is an opportunity to win."
CREW CHIEF RYAN BERGENTY:
"I think our second trip to Richmond will be a good one. We had a good qualifying effort in the spring, we just need to do it again but capitalize on it. I think we can do that this weekend. The team enjoyed their break but we're all excited to be back. Each race is an opportunity to earn points and fight for a win."
TRUCK SERIES COMPETITION NOTES:
No. 38 Love's RV Stop Ford F-150:
DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:
"We're going into this weekend with the same mindset we have had all year; show up and try to win. If we win and make the playoffs, great, but we aren't going to hang our heads if we don't. We have had a good season and speed, just a lot of bad luck. This is my learning year and the team's learning year. There is still a lot of racing left in the season where we can learn, compete for wins, and prepare for 2025."
CREW CHIEF DYLAN CAPPELLO:
"I'm excited for this weekend. Layne (Riggs) has shown a lot of speed on short tracks this year and Richmond is just that, a short track. We have lot of good momentum from IRP, we just need to keep our same mindset and execute on all fronts. I think we can do that this weekend."
