McDowell Needs Win at Bristol
Front Row Motorsports took a trip to the Kansas Speedway this past weekend.
Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Fr8Auctions.com Ford Mustang qualified seventh for Sunday’s event. McDowell fought a tight race car early in the race. The team finished 14th in Stage 1 and took two tires to stay with the leaders. McDowell raced in the top-20, but didn't have the speed to get back into the top-10. The team finished Stage 2 in 23rd. McDowell was then hit on the side by another car, and although minor, it did affect the handling.
Under a caution, the team spent time on pit road to make cosmetic repairs and McDowell was mired in the back. They tried to catch a caution in the final stage, but didn't. The team finished 26th. McDowell is still 16th in the playoff standings and needs a win at Bristol to advance.
Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Boot Barn team had a top-25 finish on Sunday. Gilliland was trapped a few laps down early in the race after a miscue on pit road, but the team had enough speed to get the laps back. Gilliland then took the Boot Barn Ford inside the top- 25.
Like McDowell, Gilliland also ran long in the final stage in an attempt to catch a caution and jump positions. The caution didn't wave and Gilliland had to pit running inside the top-10. Th team finished 25th.

Todd Gilliland, Driver No. 38 Boot Barn Ford Mustang:
"We did do some good things today to get us back on the lead lap and fight for position, but we needed more track position. A little bit of an up and down day for us."

Michael McDowell, Driver No. 34 Fr8Auctions.com Ford Mustang:
"We had that contact in the middle of the race and we had to work on the car. We were in the back and then tried to run long at the end. It just didn't work out how we needed."
The team next races Saturday at the Bristol Motor Speedway. The race is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on the USA Network.
