A Recap of the Weekend Past

The Front Row Motorsports duo of Anthony Alfredo and Michael McDowell made gains Sunday night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

McDowell and the No. 34 CarParts.com team raced near the top-15 all race. A long run at the end, and a round of green pit stops, the team cycled back around to 21st at the end. McDowell gained two spots from his starting position.

Even better, Alfredo and the No. 38 Dockside Logistics Ford team finished 27th to improve five spots on their starting position. Alfredo was fast at the end of the night and track position kept the team from an even better result.

MICHAEL MCDOWELL. NO. 34 CARPARTS.COM FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 21

Michael McDowell and the No. 34 CarParts.com team had one of their best runs in the past month Sunday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway- even if the finish didn't show it. The team had speed on the mile-and-a-half track and McDowell was one of only select cars to be on the Lead Lap at the end of Stage 2.

The final stage, the race had no cautions to help with any adjustments. McDowell, who was inside the top-15 going into the final stage, had a tight car once the sun set. He scraped the wall, but kept digging to get back to the front.

Instead, after pit stops, the team lost some ground and worked on a top-20. McDowell was close to passing for that position at the end.

MCDOWELL ON LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY:

"We we would have loved to seen a caution during that last stage. We were tight. We were inside the top-15 before that. I got into the fence and we just had to hang on. We were trying really hard to get back into the top-20, but we just didn't have the speed at the end that we had earlier in the race. I have to thank CarParts.com for supporting our program and this race. We had a good effort."

ANTHONY ALFREDO. NO. 38 DOCKSIDE LOGISTICS. FINISHED 27

Making the biggest gains Sunday night, Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 Dockside Logistics team put together a great second half of the race to finish 27th. Alfredo was still gaining positions when the race ended.

The team made some gains early in the race and Alfredo moved up to 27th by the end of Stage 1. Only minor handling adjustments were made all race to keep pace with the sun setting. The car maintained its speed, but the leader put most of the field multiple laps down. And, without cautions, the field separated.

For Alfredo, he made the most of the cars he was racing against. He passed a handful of drivers in the final stage to finish 27th.

ALFREDO ON LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY:

"We we should have been in the top-25. The car had the speed, but when you can't qualify, it's tough to keep the track position at the beginning of the race. We made great adjustments and the car was really fast at the end of the night. We jumped up three spots. We had good pit stops all race and we're pretty happy with how the night ended."
