MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 28, 2024) - Layne Riggs made his return to the Kansas Speedway last night. In a new truck built for the 1.5-mile track, Riggs qualified 13th for the 134-lap event. Riggs wasted no time getting to the front, breaking into the Top-5 to finish Stage 1 in the fifth position. Riggs pitted under the stage-break caution, taking four tires, fuel, and a chassis adjustment. In an uneventful Stage 2, Riggs moved up to the second position where he finished Stage 2. Riggs took tires, fuel, and another chassis adjustment under the stage-break caution. A multi-car caution and restart didn't stop Riggs' momentum, regaining the second position before coming to pit road under green for tires and fuel. Riggs made his back to the front but was unable to catch the eventual race winner and settled for a second-place finish. Riggs has now extended his streak of Top-5 finishes to five with seven on the year. Riggs has an average finish of 1.3 in the last three races.

DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:
“It feels amazing and shows the testament to this team and how much speed we have. I feel like our mile-and-a-half program was definitely the weakest link. Everybody really progressed over the past year. The 38 truck just kind of stayed in its middle range, but to come out here with this new truck, which we did a lot of R&D with, and run that well makes me super happy. Everybody wants to win but I just wanted to walk out of here with a good, solid finish. To finish P2 at a mile-and-a-half track when I only have like five or six mile-and-a-half starts ever is a great feeling. I learned a lot tonight. I think racing up front with the guys that have a lot of experience and can throw blocks and race for the lead really helps me as a race car driver. This is the happiest I have ever been finishing second because I feel like we gave it our all and that is all that matters.”
