NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Talladega Race Report

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 5, 2024) - Layne Riggs made his first trip to the Talladega Superspeedway this past Friday for an 85-lap race at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

Issues in technical inspection plagued the No. 38 Love's RV Stop / Peak Ford F-150 team, resulting in Riggs not being allowed to qualify and starting in the 33rd position. The starting position did not hinder the rookie driver when the green flag dropped, quickly making his way within the Top-15 and finishing 12th in the uneventful Stage 1. Coming to pit road under the stage-break caution, Riggs took left-side tires and fuel. Stage 2 ended under caution after a multi-truck accident brought out the yellow with three laps remaining. Riggs finished 12th in Stage 2. Riggs took right-side tires and fuel under the stage-break caution. Riggs raced upfront in the final stage, competing within the Top-5 before coming to pit road for a scheduled fuel only stop. With the laps winding down, Riggs was in a good spot, making his way back to the front in hopes of competing for the lead. Unfortunately, Riggs was collected in a multi-truck accident and was unable to make it to pit road. Riggs was credited with at 28th place finish.

Start: 33rd

Stage One: 12th

Stage Two: 12th

Race Results: 28th

No. 38 Love's RV Stop / Peak Ford F-150:

DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

I had a lot of fun today. It was really my first superspeedway race ever and I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot. It's interesting how it all works out, but I thought we had a really good strategy. We short-pitted a little bit over the main pack and I think me and a lot of Toyotas lined up together and I was able to lead the pack, so that was pretty cool. I got to run a little bit of everywhere in the field today. I felt good out there. We were working our way up there and I don’t know what happened above me, but I just got right-rear hooked into the wall. It was definitely the hardest hit of my life. It didn’t feel good, but it’s a good thing that NASCAR has such a good safety team and they keep me safe. I’m super thankful to Love’s RV Stops for sponsoring the race and our Ford F-150 today. I want to thank Infinity Communications for all they do – a lot of disaster relief, especially with the hurricanes right now.
