MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 2, 2024) - Layne Riggs competed at the World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois this past Saturday. It was the 21-year-old's first time at the 1.2-mile oval.

Qualifying 17th, Riggs settled in with former No. 38 Crew Chief, Chris Lawson, who returned in absence of Dylan Cappello. Fighting a loose race truck and dirty air, Riggs was unable to pick up no more than one spot to finish Stage 1 in the 16th position. Riggs pitted under the stage-break caution for four tires and fuel. Riggs continued his battle with dirty air and handling throughout Stage 2, before finishing the stage in the 16th position. Lawson called for four tires and fuel under the stage-break caution and ran the final stage long, seeing Riggs in the Top-10 with 37 laps to go. Coming in under green for right-side tires, the caution flew for the No. 91 giving Riggs and the team the opportunity to come back down pit road for left-side tires only. Picking up spots on pit road, Riggs restarted in the Top-5 and finished the end of the race in the 5th position for his second Top-5 of the season. Riggs now sits 16th in points.

No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150:

DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

“The team did a great job, especially with pit strategy and pitted us just at the right time to stay on the lead lap there at the very end with the best tires of anybody coming to that last restart. We made the most of it. I definitely didn’t have the best truck today. I was learning a lot throughout the race. I think if I would have known at the beginning what I knew at the end we would have ended up better and made some passes. It is hard to pass here. Dirty air is so bad and it is so single run. It was a tough day, but we came out with a good solid finish which is what we needed for this team, for everyone at Infinity Communications and Front Row Motorsports. They worked really hard and we just got to keep the momentum going like this.”

CREW CHIEF CHRIS LAWSON:

"This is such a tough track to pass at, and with a 17th place starting spot, we knew we were going to have to play the strategy game. The pit crew executed and did an awesome job getting Layne (Riggs) in and out of pit road. Huge thanks to Front Row Motorsports for letting me come back for a race while Dylan (Cappello) was out, these races are always a fun time to call."
