Rebounds From Pit Penalty in Quincy Compressor Ford Mustang
Gilliland and Ruedebusch Development and Construction Ford Team Finish 31st
The NASCAR Cup Series visited Las Vegas for the third round of the season, and second of three races in the "West Coast Swing." Unseasonable cool weather provided for many challenges during the weekend.
Returning to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time since the end of last season provided many challenges with conditions uncommon for the time of year. Cool temperatures and high winds on Saturday and Sunday yielded cars struggling for grip. McDowell qualified 17th and Gilliland 28th.
McDowell had a great car throughout the duration of the race, but the Quincy Compressor team were placed on their back foot early, with a pit road penalty during the first stop. The race, which saw green flag racing during most of the event, did not provide many opportunities for the team to show what their car was capable of.
Gilliland and the Ruedebusch Development and Construction Ford team led by Ryan Bergenty worked throughout the race when able to get the car dialed in. Starting off the race on the tight side, then transitioning loose toward the end of the race, the team was in much of the same situation as their teammate. The team finished 31st.
With the exception of stage-break cautions, the race saw only two cautions during the entirety of the 271 lap, 400 mile event.

Todd Gilliland, Driver No. 38 Ruedebusch Development and Construction Ford Mustang:
“It was a difficult race for us for sure. We struggled for grip most of the race and didn't get many chances to work on it. We just needed more cautions."

Michael McDowell, Driver No. 34 Quincy Compressor Ford Mustang:
"We had a good handling Quincy Compressor and learned a lot from Saturday's practice that translated into today's race. We had an early penalty for speeding on the first stop, and that really made it difficult to rebound without the cautions we needed."
FRM will finish off the "West Coast Swing" this weekend in Arizona, when the NASCAR Cup Series teams visit the Phoenix Raceway.
