Richmond Recap: McDowell Ready to Win Bristol and Alfredo Carries Momentum into New Week

A Recap of the Weekend Past

Richmond Raceway hosted the second round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs this past Saturday evening.

Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 Golden Nugget Sports.com Ford team finished 26th and Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Love's Travel Stops team finished 28th.

Both drivers are looking ahead to the Bristol Motor Speedway this Saturday night.

MICHAEL MCDOWELL. NO. 34 LOVE'S TRAVEL STOPS FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 28

Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Love's Travel Stops team had three pit road speeding penalties that defined their race on Saturday night. The penalties ultimately put McDowell multiple laps down after racing as high as 12th in Stage 1 of the race.

The team had another fast car and they are using that knowledge to give their best shot at Bristol.

MCDOWELL ON RICHMOND RACEWAY:

"It was another missed opportunity because of too many mistakes. The first time I thought it was me being too fast on pit road. Then, the second time, it wasn't even close. So, I think we missed the configuration. It's unfortunate because we had really good speed.

"So, it is on to Bristol with only one goal. We need to win the race and we're going to give it everything we've got."

ANTHONY ALFREDO. NO. 38 GOLDEN NUGGET SPORTS.COM FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 26

Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 team overcame some early race handling gremlins to have another good race on Saturday night at Richmond Raceway. Alfredo faced a vibration caused by the brakes in Stage 1 that really put a halt to his progress. The team was able to fix the vibration on pit road and later in the evening, the Golden Nugget Sports.com Ford came alive for Alfredo.

Alfredo raced into the top-25 before the final pit stop put Alfredo 26th at the end.

ALFREDO ON RICHMOND RACEWAY:

"We got a lot better as our race went on and we are building on our momentum the past few weeks. Saturday night, we were only one spot off another top-25 run and we raced inside the top-25 throughout the night. We had a slower pit stop at the end, but the Golden Nugget Sports.com Ford was pretty good.

"Heading into this week, we are carrying some momentum into Bristol. I think we're all excited about having a really great race this Saturday night."
