Smith Stays in Hunt for Regular Season Title

Seventh Top-Five of Season

Zane Smith and the Front Row Motorsports (FRM) NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series team remained in the hunt for the regular season title with two races left before the playoffs begin. Smith and the No. 38 Tipico Sportsbook team finished second Saturday afternoon at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course after charging from the back to the front.

The team suffered a broken transmission on Friday while attempting to qualify on the pole. Instead, the team was forced to work overtime to make the change and then start last on Saturday.

Rain moved over the track to delay the start, but then the race went green in wet conditions. The veteran of the truck series, Smith blasted to seventh at the end of Stage 1. The Tipico Sportsbook Ford was fast and in Stage 2, Smith raced up to fourth.

The final stage, Smith had the Tipico Ford in the fight for the win, but just didn't have enough speed to get past winner and points leader Corey Heim.

Heim still leads the points with Smith 26 points behind for the regular season title. Races in Pocono and Richmond will determine the regular season champion.

Zane Smith, Driver No. 38 Tipico Sportsbook Ford F-150:

"It's disappointing to finish second again in this race. We just needed a little more. But after all the work the team put in, I'm happy that we have our season back on track. I have to thank Tipico for coming into NASCAR and supporting us."

The team next races Saturday, July 22 at the Pocono Raceway. The race is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET on FS1.
