Finishes Second at Nashville Superspeedway
The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series visited the Nashville Superspeedway on Friday evening. The track is located just outside Nashville, Tennessee.
Showing speed early in practice, Smith and the No. 38 Speedco/Fleetguard Ford qualified eighth for the 150-lap show. Smith got to work early in Stage 1, quickly moving up to the fourth position. Smith made his way to the lead, eventually winning the stage.
The Speedco/Fleetguard team came to pit road for four tires and fuel. Smith and the No. 38 Ford fought dirty air throughout the stage, but managed to finish fourth in Stage 2.
Smith contended for the win in the final 60 laps. A late-race caution didn't help Smith track down the leader.
Smith is now second in the championship points standings, just 16 points behind the leader and gaining the most points Friday evening.

"We simply just struggled from first to second, but we were really good from third to fourth. That’s all there was to it. But, it was a really good points day for us, we had a really fast Speedco Ford. Just wish we had the clean air there. It’s been a rough four to five weeks. So to leave here with a stage win and being able to contend all night long, we should all be pretty proud.”
The team next races Saturday, July 8 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The race is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
